Welcome to the Cole School Technology SandboxThis technology sandbox has been created for Cole school teachers to learn about and practice with new technologies that may be useful in our curriculum. There are videos, screencasts about how to use tools, information about using technology tools to support the Common Core and technology standards, instructional strategies that can be supported by these technologies (the Flipped Classroom), and more. Each page can be viewed in succession--the entire site is also a tutorial. However, please feel free to skip around as well.
How to Use the SandboxThere are many ways you can use this sandbox. You can browse the tools just to get a feel for what they have to offer. Or, you can choose one and really get the hang of it, perhaps even trying it out for a lesson or project with students. The key is to try things out. Each tool has a participatory element or example that you an actually log in to, practice with, and otherwise “play” with. Don’t be afraid to experiment. To really get the hand of technology, you need to use it.
The sandbox is also here for questions, concerns, ideas, suggestions…anything you would like to post. Other teachers will appreciate your questions (they may have the same ones!) and I am here to support you in any way I can. Ask me questions; that’s what librarians like. Also, please feel free to post new ways you have used the tool, tips you have discovered, or ideas you have. Our collaborative efforts will benefit the entire school and community of teachers. Each page has a threaded discussion area where we can post these thoughts (see below). |

Virtual Sandbox vs. Physical SandboxThis virtual sandbox is also here to support the physical sandbox we hope to create in the library at Conley. Some of the tools we will need to purchase (like Camtasia for example) will be in our physical sandbox.
